What to Expect During Your Pet’s Exams

Our team aims to provide pet wellness exams in Indian Head, MD that enhances the lives of our patients. We utilize the following aspects of care to help maintain your pet’s health and quality of life:

At your pet’s wellness exam, your veterinarian will perform a thorough nose-to-tail examination to evaluate the eyes, ears, teeth, heart, lungs, skin, bones, joints, and abdomen for any issues.

This exam may identify additional conditions that were previously undiagnosed. Your veterinarian may also recommend diagnostics to check for any underlying issues that a physical exam may not detect.

Internal medicine refers to the diagnosis and treatment of disease inside the body, such as:

  • Pancreatitis
  • Kidney/Urinary Disease
  • Internal Infections
  • Cancer
  • Diseases of the Liver, Gallbladder, Endocrine System (e.g., Diabetes, Adrenal, Thyroid, etc.) and Heart Disease

The PAWS team knows that timely treatment means everything when your pet is sick. We can provide an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment with our cutting-edge in-house lab and diagnostic technology.

You know your pet the best, and our team wants to work with you to provide your pet with the very best care. We’re here to help you understand the changes in your pet’s health as they age and assure you that PAWS will provide high quality veterinary medicine for your companion.

In addition to regular physical exams, sometimes it may be necessary to use lab testing including blood analysis and urinalysis, to gain a better understanding of your pet’s health. Performing blood screenings once a year provides us with another tool to manage your pet’s overall health.

Even if your pet does not exhibit any symptoms, these considerations may be helpful in detecting a disease before it becomes serious. The sooner we discover any underlying issues, the sooner we can provide treatment for your pet.
